For the 2019 Teaching in China Program, we have formed two groups of 9. One group will be teaching in Shennongjia, and the other group will be teaching in Jiangxi.
In late January, we held a combined meeting. During this meeting, every 18 of our members/student-teachers gave a one-minute introduction, to exercise speaking in front of a group. Later, members split into their respective groups (Shennongjia or Jianxi) and exchanged contact information. Then within the group, members split into two teams of 2 and one team of 3. These teams then decided on a topic to cover. Their homework was to create a teaching outline.
- Shennongjia’s teams:
- Art – Elizabeth, Maggie
- Culture – Emily, Jessica
- ELA – Daniel, Larry
- English Speaking – Andrew, Julia, Matthew
- Jiangxi’s teams:
- Culture – Alex, Alice, Laura
- English Speaking – Austin, Samantha
- Geography – Darren, Joey
- Music – Kevin, Yujia
Shennongjia’s next meeting was held on March 9th. During this meeting, each team presented their 5-day teaching plan and received feedback. Now teams must start prepare actual teaching content, which includes any powerpoints or videos.
The President’s Volunteer Service Award was also introduced. Each team member was to create an account and log their time spent working on anything related to this Teaching in China Program.
Jiangxi’s next meeting will be held the next day: March 10th.
